Danial Khatoonabadi is a dedicated Tar performer, educator, and Persian traditional musician with more than 15 years of musical experience. He began studying the Tar at the age of 7 and performed in his first ensemble concert by the age of 9. Since then, he has continued developing his artistry through solo performances, ensemble collaborations, cultural festivals, and educational work within the Persian music community.
Danial specializes in Persian classical and traditional repertoire, including the Radif of Mirza Abdullah, and has experience performing in cultural celebrations such as Nowruz and Yalda events. His musical collaborations extend across a variety of styles and instruments, including Kamancheh, Tombak, Flamenco Guitar, and Handpan, reflecting his passion for both preserving traditional Persian music and exploring multicultural and contemporary fusion influences.
As a music tutor, Danial teaches beginner and intermediate Tar students with a focus on rhythm, technique, Persian modal systems (Dastgah), musical interpretation, and creative expression. He is passionate about helping students build both technical skills and a deeper appreciation for Persian musical heritage in an engaging and supportive learning environment.
In addition to his musical background, Danial is currently studying Electrical Engineering at the University of British Columbia and has completed music production studies through Berklee Online, combining technical knowledge with artistic creativity in his musical approach.
